“The dreamers are the saviors of the world…
…Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become… Your Vision is the promise of what you shall one day be. Your Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.
…The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.”
Excerpt Chapter 6: As A Man Thinketh, James Allen.

I dream of the day I will open, in Africa, A school where student natural talent and ability is nurtured, where education is free and children are taught from a young age how to be enterprising, and creative, inventive using simple principles such as Desire, Specialised Knowledge, Persistence to name a few. Principles found in books I had never read a mere 2years ago, but wish I could have come across from a young age such as Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill , the above quoted As a Man Thinketh by James Allen and many more I will mention in good time. Everything happens for a reason though, I believe, so I now know of these books, and believe that one day, I will do my part to help others by sharing this invaluable information.
What do YOU dream of?

It may be that you have the Desire to progress your career to newer heights, make a lifestyle change such as start exercising regularly or
maybe you have a burning Desire to be doing something completely different from what you are currently doing. I think we can sum up that most of us have dreams we would like to follow and see to become real.
Naturally though, we might have feelings and obstacles that might get in the way of us trying to follow our dreams. These might come in the form of
- Feeling inadequate and unqualified.
- “I’ll start in the new year” syndrome
- Thinking it’s too late to start
- Fear (the fear of the unknown and of what people will say or think)
Trust me, I have had all these feelings and thoughts yet somehow, I am managing to overcome them one by one;
IF I CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT TOO!
(I will be doing a later blog post on how to overcome your fears.) So if you too are thinking about making the first steps towards following your dreams and haven’t are having a few doubts, here are
10 GOOD REASONS FOR FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS.
1.What do you have to lose?
If you’re like how I was when I first started, broke, bored, unfulfilled, to say the least; the thought of carrying on with life the same way would be the very last thing you want to do. Life can get to a point when you calculate all you have to lose and you come up with zero. I have nothing to lose but instead I will be sure gain something by at least trying
- You won’t regret it
Since I’ve started making steps towards following my dreams I have the feeling of satisfaction knowing that one day when I’m old/er I will be happy knowing that I did exactly what I believed my purpose to be, that I saw the world, and contributed in a way I thoroughly enjoy.
- You’ll love what do
Because you have always wanted to do it, that’s the best part isn’t it. Chances are you already know what it is because it will most likely be a natural talent you love doing whether you get paid or not. It will usually be that thing you get carried away doing and lose track of time. If you find leisure in doing it, it won’t feel like work but more of a hobby you get paid for.
- It will boost your confidence
Doing something new can be challenging because we can be afraid of what will happen. Often people are too bothered about what others will think, maybe you’re afraid of the ‘haters’ spreading gossip and laughing at you if you fail. Trust me, you will fail, but once you get up and try again, you will have many successes and in turn, your confidence will soar.

- It will make you happier
Apart from studies suggesting that people who follow their dreams are happier because of the satisfaction it brings, it is also worth noting that when you follow your dreams you will be doing what you want to do, rather than what someone else wants you to do. I know a few people who struggle with communicating with people in higher positions of power because of some type of stubbornness and perhaps even insecurities, or just lacking basic communication skills, and this isn’t what I mean. I mean being able to do what you want to do because you are driven to do it by everything in you. Being able to build your own dream, rather than contribute to building somebody else’s. I like the sound of that, don’t you?
- You will make mistakes!
Yes, mistakes are there to be made, and there is no better teacher than the experience of mistakes. I’m not sure there is someone out there that particularly enjoys making mistakes, but if you are able to, learn to appreciate the value of mistakes in the lessons they teach us, the process becomes easier. For, if not for that mistake, we would be none the wiser. Cherish that lesson and know that it’s just part of the process leading up to the dream you so much desire.

- You will inspire someone!
I’m often surprised when a person tells me how I have inspired them to do something of their own. We don’t always know when we inspire others, but the truth is as you follow your dreams and evidence of the joy and happiness you will have will also inspire others to follow suit in their own way.
- You will mature emotionally and spiritually.
Some of the challenges you will face will be hard, but will guarantee exploration of your emotional and spiritual well being; and as you begin to explore these, you will notice how they make way for tremendous growth. I have seen my own emotional maturity grow by becoming more aware of situations where my emotions are relevant and not relevant in business. This has been a great challenge especially being a naturally very passionate person. Perhaps you could learn something new too?
- It will show you who your real friends are.
Yes, there will come a point when you start seeing differences in priorities between yourself and your friends and some are not easy to overcome. The friend who wants to stay on the phone all night and gossip yet you have to be up at 6 to start your newly adopted routine. The friend who isn’t interested in your progress so far, and the friend that tells you to quit because chances are, the ‘real’ you they know is likely to give up and fail in a few months. There are those however, who will adore you for stepping up and wanting more from life, those who will support you and understand when you are unable to meet up because you have a lot to deal with. I think you can imagine which ones you might want to let go of.
- You will connect with like-minded people.
Never mind the ones you might or might not lose, If you love meeting new people, following your dreams is a sure way to get yourself out there mingling with people who share some of your new found values, interests and motivation. And usually, these new people in your life will take you through your next steps towards your way to a successful life.
Above all else, know that it is YOUR DREAM, and nobody else out there is going to try and see if it will come true for you. It is within you so that your purpose in life may be fulfilled and you may find satisfaction in living this ever beautiful world. It is yours so be brave, and go get what’s yours!

It would be awesome to hear your thoughts and views. Why are you following your dreams, if you are, and what are some of the challenges you meet; and if not, What’s stopping you?
